Milan

Milan is the second largest italian city in the number of inhabitants, after Rome. It is unanimously known as a capital of industry, fashion, culture, design and publishing. It was the city of such famous figures as Leonardo Da Vinci, Giuseppe Verdi, Alessandro Manzoni, Giorgio Strehler and Dario Fo, the Nobel prizewinner. Well-known all around the world is Teatro alla Scala, the temple of opera. In the area of arts and science are of great importance Pinacoteca di Brera and Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia, dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, author of the famous Cenacolo (The Last Supper). The Duomo, one of the most famous gothic cathedrals, represents one of the symbols of the city, together with the Castello Sforzesco, which was chosen as a backround for the celebration of the Smurfs birthday. In 2015 Milan will host the Universal Exposition.
