Competition rules
Organisation
The contest is being organised by I.M.P.S., International Merchandising & Services s.a., located at rue du Cerf 85, 1332 Genval, Belgium (hereafter referred to as "IMPS").
IMPS reserves the right to change, postpone, shorten or revoke the contest or part of it if necessary, without being held accountable.
Participation
This creativity contest is open to all persons, without geographic limitation. The contest is free of charge.
How to participate
1. Any person with one of the Smurf figurines distributed for free during each event that is part of the Happy Smurfday European tour can participate. The number of figurines is limited by our stock availability. To participate in the contest, a digital photo of the participating figurine must be either:
- Sent by email to the following address: www.happysmurfday.com/smurf competition
- Presented at the contest stand during the 2 exhibition days in each town included in the European tour so that the figurine can be photographed;
2. Participants may only submit digital photos. Only digital photos will be accepted. The photos may be digitally reworked, as long as they faithfully represent the creation. This may be required to be provided for inspection. Each participant may provide only one photo of their creation.
3. Each participation form sent by email or completed at the contest stand must be correctly and completely filled in. It must thus include the surname, forename, birth date and exact email address of each participant. Any incorrect or incomplete information will result in the elimination of the entry.
4. In the event of abuse, deception or fraud, IMPS explicitly reserves the right to exclude the participant(s) concerned from the contest.
Requirements for submitting the photo
All images must be submitted in JPEG format.By submitting their images, the participants automatically and unconditionally give their permission to have their names, ages and identities as contest participants published, and hereby renounce any relevant rights to this. The participant authorises IMPS to use his/her personal information to send him/her information. At any time after the conclusion of the contest, any participant can request, by email or postal mail, the retraction of his/her personal information from the IMPS file.At the moment of their creation by a participant, all ‘adaptations created based on the Smurfs® body of work’, illustrations, designs or style become the property of IMPS. All rights and titles, including intellectual property and other relevant rights, rights to commercial exploitation (including copyright, brand and patented inventions) are irrevocably assigned to IMPS. IMPS is free to use and exploit such an ‘original adaptation created based on the Smurfs® body of work’.The single objective of each submission is to decorate a Smurf. The jury will not take into account any other decoration. The maximum measurements for the creation are 25 cm in height x 20 cm in width x 20 cm in depth.
Rejection of submissions
Happy Smurfday is a child-friendly event.
Entries therefore must not be offensive (pornographic, racist or infringing universal children’s rights or human rights). Any entries which include references to or symbols of a political or religious conviction will also be automatically rejected.
Entries featuring a brand image, logo or any other form of commercial expression will likewise not be displayed on the website.
In more general terms, IMPS, as the party with ultimate responsibility for this website, reserves the right to reject any entry which it believes to be inconsistent with the world of the Smurfs at its own discretion and without further explanation.
Each picture will be manually checked and, after approval, displayed online within 48 hours.
Duration
In each participating city, each participant has 14 days starting from the invasion of the Smurf figurines to upload his/her submission onto the website. After these 14 days, the contest is closed for the city in question.To public may still vote for another week to determine which participant will win the public prizeThe jury will determine the winner and inform him/her by email during the month following the event.
Judging
The images submitted will be judged by a professional jury from Studio Peyo.

In addition to the jury prize, there is also the public prize. Any person who wishes may, up to 3 weeks following the event, vote on line for his/her favourite Smurf via www.happysmurfday.com/gallery.
Prize
The jury will select a winner in each city participating in the contest. The winner will receive a Smurf pack full of great Smurf articles.The other winners selected by the jury, as well as the winner selected by the pubic, will also receive a Smurf pack.The prize is not exchangeable, for money or for any other item in kind. The prizes will be sent to the winners by post, after the winners have communicated their postal addresses to IMPS, within 60 working days after the closure of the contest and the sending of their postal addresses.
Disagreements
No correspondence (exchange of letters, emails or telephone conversations) will modify the rules, organisation or results of this contest. All other announcements and/or publications relating to the contest are valid and are covered by the present rules. All decisions coming from IMPS are definitive.IMPS reserves the right to suspend or modify the contest due to force majeure, without participants being able to claim and damages or interest.IMPS cannot be held liable in case of technical problems of any kind that might affect the smooth running of this contest. In addition, it cannot be held responsible for any problems relating to the routing or loss of electronic mail.By taking part in this contest, the participants accept without reservation the Rules and Conditions. The images submitted will not be returned to the participant afterwards.This contest is subject to Belgian law. In the event of litigation, only the courts of the legal district of Brussels are qualified.
